Constellations

Unravel the hidden dynamics in your family or organisation and find new paths to resolution with Constellations.

About the practice

Unravel the hidden dynamics in your family or organisation and find new paths to resolution with Constellations. This workshop offers a unique approach to problem-solving, using a physical representation of your system to explore underlying tensions, conflicts, and emotions.

Constellations work is a therapeutic method that originated in Africa (Zulu Tribe) and developed in Germany. Designed to help individuals explore and resolve complex personal, family, or organisational issues. This approach is based on the idea that families and businesses are complex systems, and that any issue affecting one individual in the system can impact the whole system. Constellations seem to be an adequate transcultural intervention method to contribute to healing, therapeutic work and understanding of systemic family constructs across cultures.

In a Family Constellation session, the client presents an issue or problem to the facilitator, who then asks the client to select individuals from a group of people to represent family members or other relevant parties. The client places these representatives in relation to one another to create a physical representation, or "constellation," of the issue at hand.

Through this physical representation, the facilitator guides the client and representatives to explore and identify underlying dynamics and emotions that may be contributing to the issue. The facilitator may also ask representatives to speak or express.

The process is held in a very safe environment and open to all. Constellation groups consist of 6-8 people. The event can be cancelled if the minimum number of 4 participants is not reached.

Some of the benefits of participating in a Constellation workshop:

- You will gain a deeper understanding of a particular issue and its origins.

- You will release any emotional blockages that are holding you back.

- You will find new and creative solutions to your problems.

- You will feel more connected to yourself and others.

- You will experience a sense of peace and well-being.

Whether you choose to work as an issue holder or are witnessing the process as part of the group, a Constellation workshop is an extraordinary and unforgettable experience that helps to change the way we see things.

AWAKENING TO THE TRUTH

"For me, engaging in systematic work is profoundly stimulating and significant, encouraging us to appreciate the richness and variety of human experiences in all their relational and contextual aspects.

In my view, it involves addressing “what exists in the room,” operating at very high and deep levels, clearing obstacles, learning from the wisdom of nature and experience, and observing how fragments of the universe are reintegrated into love and thus healed, as separation dissolves, so do aggression and blockages, allowing us to see the results in everyday life.

It's akin to reclaiming the wings we lose in our family, matrix, and other entanglements.

Awakening to Truth.

I encourage you to broaden your consciousness, so I will share some insights from this experience." Gunar

Transgenerational transmission functions through biological (epigenetics), psychological (projections, identifications, unconscious parental directives), and social (narratives, myths, rituals, relational patterns) pathways.

Becoming aware of the covert loyalties and hidden memories enables individuals to liberate themselves to live their own lives, honoring their ancestors with love and respect rather than rejecting them.

Unconscious familial loyalties are established from a young age through projections, mandates, and unspoken family rules that permeate the household.

Thus, a child might feel an unexplainable guilt for their existence, out of loyalty to a sibling who passed away before they were born.

Alternatively, they might develop an illness akin to that of a parent due to unconscious identification.

It is crucial to recognize that these loyalties are not inherently pathological; rather, they reflect the powerful emotional ties that connect family members across generations.

They become problematic when they confine an individual to repetitive behaviors and hinder them from fully experiencing their life.

One objective of family constellations is to bring to light these unconscious loyalties, enabling individuals to acknowledge and liberate themselves from them.

By spatially depicting family dynamics, this method renders invisible connections visible and gently untangles transgenerational knots.

For instance, during a constellation, a woman discovers that her challenges in becoming pregnant stem from an unconscious loyalty to her grandmother, who experienced the loss of several children at a young age.

By emotionally recognizing her ancestor’s experience and granting her a rightful place in the family system, she feels a profound sense of relief and regains her freedom to pursue motherhood herself.

Therefore, by examining our unconscious familial loyalties, we can transform these invisible influences into resources and support for our lives.

It's somewhat about leaning on our roots to extend our wings, finding a healthy equilibrium between belonging and individual expression, between honoring the past and the liberty to shape our future.

Consider another example of a woman struggling with infertility.

Upon exploring her family background, she learns that her great-grandmother lost multiple children in infancy, a grief that was never fully acknowledged by the family.

Unconsciously, this woman may carry her ancestor’s sadness and subconsciously prevent herself from giving life, out of loyalty to this ancestral grief.

In a similar vein, a man who struggles to establish his career may discover he is bearing the weight of his father's abandoned dream job, which he gave up to support his family.

Another example could be a woman who experiences a divorce at 32, the same age her grandmother was when she lost her husband during the war.

Or a man who sinks into depression at 40, the same age as his father when he faced bankruptcy.

These synchronicities are not mere coincidences; they illustrate the potency of unconscious family loyalties.

By recognizing these temporal dynamics, we can extricate ourselves from repetitive patterns and establish new cycles based on freer and more deliberate decisions.

Essentially, it’s about reclaiming our history so we can better envision our future, incorporating the wisdom and resources of our ancestors while allowing ourselves to carve our own path.

“As a therapist, I am only a humble servant of something that surpasses me. My role is to create the conditions for the family consciousness field to reveal and transform itself. But I am not the one who heals or knows. I am just a facilitator, a midwife of what wants to be born. And this demands great humility, a great respect for the mystery of life”.

Jakob Schneider, a renowned constellator

Learn more about systematic constellations

Systematic constellations teach us an attitude of acceptance and deep consent to what is. They invite us to welcome life as it presents itself, with its joys and sorrows, its lights and shadows. For it is by saying “yes” to our history, by embracing our destiny with all it entails, that we can profoundly reconcile with ourselves and the life that passes through us.

It is a path of wisdom and internal liberation that teaches us to dance with life rather than fight against it. A path that invites us to honor our roots while spreading our wings, to reconcile with our history in order to better embrace our destiny. For ultimately, it is by connecting to what surpasses us that we can give the best of ourselves and fully contribute to the great fabric of existence.

The concept of a unified field of consciousness is a key notion in the approach of family constellations, which has its roots in spiritual and mystical traditions worldwide. It refers to the idea that beyond our seemingly fragmented and dual reality, there exists a more expansive and encompassing level of consciousness, where everything is interconnected and is one.
From this perspective, human beings, families, groups, and even nations are not separate entities, but temporary manifestations of a single field of consciousness, which contains within it all potentialities and all memories. It’s somewhat like the waves on the ocean surface: although they appear distinct and fleeting, they are in reality only transient expressions of the same water, of the same depth.

The unified field of consciousness is not limited to the family. It in fact encompasses all of humanity, if not all living beings. With this view, constellations can also be used to explore broader issues, such as conflicts between nations, ecological stakes, or the major challenges of our time. By connecting to this expanded level of consciousness, one can access a more global and inclusive vision that transcends apparent divisions and oppositions.

Family constellations offer us much more than a therapeutic method. They open us up to a spiritual vision of existence, where everything is connected, where everything is one. A vision that invites us to embrace our unique place in the grand fabric of life, while humbly working for collective healing and awakening. Because it is by becoming aware of our deep unity, beyond our apparent differences, that we can build a more fair, compassionate, and bright world for all.

Each constellation is a unique adventure, an intimate dialogue with the forces of the invisible, serving life and love that seek to make their way through the meanders of family destinies. And it is in this sacred space, patiently created and honored by the practitioner, where soul knots can finally unravel to reveal the hidden beauty and healing at the heart of each system.

Online constellations also offer the opportunity to work with participants from different cultures and countries, thus enriching the diversity of experiences and perspectives. They allow for the creation of international working groups, where everyone can bring their sensitivity and worldview. This intercultural dimension promotes openness, tolerance, and mutual understanding, while expanding the range of possibilities.

It’s important to stress that online constellations don’t replace face-to-face ones, but rather serve as a valuable and complementary alternative. They provide increased flexibility and accessibility, enabling individuals who are geographically distant or unable to travel to benefit from this potent therapeutic work. They also open new perspectives for practitioner training and supervision by facilitating exchanges and the sharing of experiences beyond borders.
